Create the Impulse Buy

Despite the abundance of information available at their fingertips, buyers are still as impulsive as ever.

The best way to satisfy shopper’s cravings is to show them more of what they are looking for and AspDotNetStorefront can help you do this.

There are three built-in features for offering more to your buyer: Upsell Products, Related Products, and “Customers Who Bought X Also Bought Y”.

Customers Who Bought X Also Bought Y” – This feature is an automated presentation based on products frequently purchased along with those that the customer is currently viewing. The out-of-the-box options are to display the products in List format or a Grid display, how many products can be displayed, and how many columns to use with the Grid format. These are set by default to display up to 4 products in a 4 column Grid.

Related Products – This feature has two settings: Pre-determined or Dynamic.

The pre-determined method is found in the “Options” tab in the Admin Console. The admin selects exactly which additional products to display with the currently edited product. Related Product options are whether to display them in List or Grid format, and the number of Grid columns per row.

The Dynamic method is similar to “Customers Who Bought X Also Bought Y.” AspDotNetStorefront determines which additional products show based on a shopper’s viewing history. The available options for displaying related products dynamically are similar to those of “Customers Who Bought X Also Bought Y”. The dynamic option is off by default.

Upsell Products – This feature is a pre-determined set of additional products displayed on a product page. These are set up on the “Options” tab of a product in the Admin Console. Upsell products have the distinction of allowing a discount if they are purchased with the currently viewed product. They can also be displayed on the cart page as well, unlike the other product presentation tools. These additional products can be an “upsell” item, such as an upgraded fancier model than the product being viewed, or perhaps additional items like controllers for a video game console, or maybe “hot selling” items that the customer may have overlooked. Options for the Upsell Products are limited to the Grid display, Grid columns per row, and max number of products to display if they are shown on the cart page.

A storefront owner utilizing all of these features together can enrich the shopping experience for the buyer and boost their sales at the same time.
